Voices of Horror: An Interview with Deena Warner

October 07, 2005 By Johnathon Williams

Dw Bad Boys

Deena Warner's artwork conjures images that are equal parts innocence and terror, a fitting combination for an illustrator whose bread and butter is horror fiction. Recent projects have placed her work in books by Gary Braunbeck and Glen Hirschberg, as well as in genre mags such as Cthulhu Sex Magazine. In our exclusive interview, she talks about the path she took to art, the scary stories that hooked her as a child, and the process she uses to find the perfect images.

Aside from Deena's participation, this podcast is special because it's being distributed in two formats. Downloading this episode from within iTunes will grab an enhanced version of the show that displays pictures of Deena's artwork as she talks about them. The enhanced version will only download and play within iTunes, however. Clicking the MP3 link below will produce a file that plays in any MP3-compatible player, although without the images.
