Voices of Horror: Matthew Warner and Google Book Search

November 28, 2005 By Johnathon Williams

Matthew Warner returns for his second appearance on our show to discuss Google Book Search, a new online service that scans the full text of books and makes their contents available for searching. Several authors and publishers are suing Google for including copyrighted works in the service without first acquiring permission from the copyright holder. Earlier this year, Warner was outraged to discover that his first novel, The Organ Donor, was included in the program without his permission. Warner and I debate the pros and cons of the service as he describes his experience, including the steps he took to remove his novel from Google's database.
