Voices of Horror #11: The Anthology and the Hurricane

January 22, 2006 By Johnathon Williams

BwsevinsThe latest episode of VOH interviews R.J. and Julia Sevin, publishers of Corpse Blossoms, a new anthology released last month in a trade hardcover edition. The book is the first release from the Sevins, who founded Creeping Hemlock Press last year. All new publishers face a number of trials and tribulations, but the Sevins encountered something extraordinary — Hurricane Katrina. They were nearing completion on the anthology when the storm threatened their home in the greater New Orleans area, forcing them to evacuate. The anthology survived on their office computer in the trunk of their car as they sought shelter for themselves and their infant son. We spoke about their decision to publish the anthology and the struggle they endured as they completed it in the aftermath of the storm.
